If the most current copy of your Will is not LOCATED the following may occur:

A previous Will may be incorrectly recognized as representing your wishes and your assets may not be transferred to the persons you wished to receive your assets,

Your chosen and trusted executors may not be appointed to administer your estate,

Your assets may be distributed contrary to your wishes and many times it is incorrectly presumed a Will does not exist when it does,

Your loved ones may be in a state of emotional distress and confusion and may have difficulty remembering the LOCATION of the most current version of your Will,

The guardians you have chosen to care for your infant children may not be appointed, and

Your loved ones may not receive what you wished them to inherit and in some cases may receive nothing, and the administration of your Will may proceed in accordance with intestacy laws and your assets may be distributed contrary to your wishes.

By registering you ensure your Will is not maliciously or accidentally withheld and you ensure no one has the opportunity to intentionally withhold the most current copy of your Will.

Also, the lawyers who prepared your Will are not automatically advised of your death and each year many Wills unfortunately remain unclaimed. Thus, it is very important to register the location of your current Will with Willfinder.ca
